Can Roof Rejuvenation Stop Roof Leaks?
Short answer: no. Rejuvenation is not a leak repair and shouldn't be sold as one. Here's what leaks actually come from and what to do about them.
Rejuvenation addresses aging, not breaches
A rejuvenation treatment works on the flexibility of intact shingles. A leak is water passing through a breach in the roof system. Those are unrelated problems, and treating the first does nothing for the second.
Where residential leaks usually originate
- Flashing at chimneys, walls, skylights and vent penetrations
- Valleys where water volume concentrates
- Ice dams forcing water backward under shingles at eaves
- Missing, lifted or damaged shingles
- Failed or improperly sealed pipe boots
What to do if your roof is leaking
Get the source diagnosed and repaired first. Many leaks are localized repairs rather than full replacements. If we find an active leak during an assessment, we'll document it, explain what we saw, and refer you to a roofer who handles repair work. Once a roof is dry and sound, rejuvenation may become relevant again — but never before.
See if your roof qualifies
Six quick questions about your roof, and an honest read on whether rejuvenation is likely to be a fit for it.
2-minute self-check
Answer six questions from the ground.
This won't replace an on-roof inspection, but your answers shape the recommendation you'll get at the end — including when rejuvenation isn't the right call. "Not sure" is a fine answer.
1.Is your roof roughly 8–25 years old?
2.Do you have any active leaks or interior water stains?
3.Are there shingles missing, cracked through, or hard-curled in sections?
4.Do you see granules collecting in gutters, or fading and dry-looking shingles?
5.Do any roof planes sag, or does the decking feel soft?
6.Does the roof have more than one layer of shingles?
