How roof rejuvenation works
Four steps. The first two are free, and plenty of homeowners stop there with the answer they needed.
Step 1 — Roof evaluation
We inspect the roof directly: shingle flexibility, granule coverage, adhesion, curling, missing shingles, valleys, flashing, penetrations and visible deck condition. Each plane is assessed separately, because exposure varies enormously from one side of a Maine house to the other.
Step 2 — Qualification
You get a written decision: qualifies, or doesn't, with the reasoning behind it. If the roof qualifies, the recommendation comes with an estimate you can compare directly against a replacement quote. If it doesn't, we explain what we found and can refer you to a roofing contractor for repair or replacement.
A meaningful share of roofs we assess don't qualify. That's the system working, not failing.
Step 3 — Roof preparation
Preparation determines how well the treatment performs. We clear debris from valleys and gutters, treat moss and organic growth where present, and protect siding, windows, walkways and landscaping before anything is applied.
Step 4 — Rejuvenation treatment
The product is applied evenly across qualifying roof planes at the manufacturer's specified coverage rate. Most residential roofs are completed in a single visit. Application requires dry conditions and suitable temperatures, so scheduling is weather-dependent — in Maine that generally means a spring-through-autumn window.
Afterwards
We clean up, walk you through what was done, and provide documentation including the manufacturer's product warranty terms. Rejuvenation is periodic maintenance rather than a one-time reset, so we'll also explain the recommended reapplication interval for the product used on your roof.

What is roof rejuvenation?
Roof rejuvenation is a treatment applied to aging asphalt shingles that are still structurally sound. Asphalt shingles lose flexibility over time as the oils in the asphalt binder dry out and volatilize. A rejuvenation treatment is designed to restore some of that flexibility so qualifying shingles can continue doing their job instead of being torn off prematurely. It is not a repair, a coating, or a substitute for replacing a failed roof.
How long does roof rejuvenation last?
Manufacturers of rejuvenation products publish their own service and warranty terms, and treatments are generally intended to be reapplied periodically rather than once forever. We'll walk you through the specific product warranty that applies to your roof before any work is scheduled, so you know exactly what's covered and for how long.
Does roof rejuvenation really work?
It works on the roofs it's meant for: shingles that are aging and drying out but still intact and well-adhered. It does not work on shingles that are cracked through, missing, saturated, or sitting over compromised decking. That's why we assess first and decline roofs that aren't good candidates — the outcome depends almost entirely on picking the right roof.
Can roof rejuvenation fix roof leaks?
No. Rejuvenation is not a leak repair. If your roof is leaking, the source needs to be diagnosed and repaired — that could be flashing, a valley, a penetration, or failed shingles. If we find an active leak during the assessment, we'll tell you and can refer you to a roofing contractor who handles repairs.
