How long does roof rejuvenation last?
Short answer
Rejuvenation treatments are designed to be reapplied periodically rather than once for the life of the roof, and manufacturers publish their own service and warranty terms. The practical answer for your roof depends on shingle condition, sun exposure and ventilation — all of which the assessment documents before any work is scheduled.
Why there is no single number
Two identical roofs age differently. A south-facing slope over a poorly ventilated attic bakes; a shaded north slope in Cape Elizabeth stays damp and grows algae. The treatment interacts with the shingle you have, so any company quoting one universal lifespan for every roof is simplifying to make a sale.
What to get in writing
- The specific product being applied and its manufacturer warranty
- What that warranty covers, and what voids it
- The recommended reapplication interval for your roof
- The condition findings that support treating this roof at all
It extends life, it doesn't reset the clock
Rejuvenation buys added years on a roof you already own. It does not turn a 15-year-old roof into a new roof, and it will not carry a roof past the point where the mat itself has degraded. Planning to replace eventually is still the right assumption — the question rejuvenation answers is whether that has to happen this year.
