Does roof rejuvenation void my shingle warranty?
Short answer
It depends on your shingle manufacturer's warranty language, so it's worth checking before treatment. In practice most roofs old enough to benefit from rejuvenation are past the meaningful portion of their original warranty anyway, and the rejuvenation product carries its own warranty.
Read the coverage you actually still have
Shingle warranties are usually front-loaded: full material coverage for an early period, then prorated coverage that declines with age, with labor excluded. A roof at year sixteen typically has little remaining value in that document, which changes the calculation.
What to check
- Whether surface-applied products are addressed in the warranty text
- How much prorated coverage remains given the roof's age
- Whether the original installation was registered with the manufacturer
- What the rejuvenation product's own warranty covers
