Is roof rejuvenation a scam?
Short answer
The service isn't a scam, but it's frequently sold to homeowners whose roofs don't qualify, which produces the bad experiences you read about. The product does a narrow job on a narrow set of roofs. The risk is the salesperson, not the chemistry.
Where the bad reputation comes from
Most complaints follow the same pattern: a roof that was already failing got treated anyway, the homeowner expected new-roof performance, and the roof needed replacing a year or two later. The treatment was never going to fix that roof. Selling it was the problem.
Red flags
- A price quoted before anyone has assessed the roof
- A promise of a specific number of added years with no conditions
- Pressure to sign today, or a discount that expires at the door
- No written condition findings, only a proposal
- A company that has apparently never declined a roof
What good looks like
A written assessment describing shingle flexibility, adhesion, granule condition, flashing and ventilation. A clear yes or no on whether your roof qualifies and why. The product name and its warranty terms. And a straightforward referral to a roofer if replacement is the honest answer — which is exactly what we do when a roof doesn't qualify.
